Vera Grey tries to strike Ryan Black with a table knife during dinner. Ella Grey uses her powers beneath the table to stop the blade. Ryan pays no attention to the danger, casually feeding Luna Black while telling Ella she owes him a favor.
Derek Shadowfang turns up in the courtyard surrounded by armed guards. He insists Ella Grey must become his mate and vows to banish the clan after the Blood Moon Trial. Richard and Vera Grey charge, but Derek flings them backward.
Ella Grey rushes outdoors to inspect her wounded parents. Ryan Black steps onto the porch beside Luna Black, continuing to eat. Derek directs insults at Ryan and leaps forward. Ryan effortlessly snatches Derek out of the air by his throat and dangles him.
“If you know what's good for you, make Ella accept my mate bond willingly!”
“Daddy, he's so ugly. He's ruining my appetite!”
“Who let the bulldog off its leash? Oh wait, you're just a Chihuahua with a big mouth.”
