Episode: 4
Laila and Carmela find Jaden unconscious in a bloody bathtub, and Alaric carries his brother out to summon medical aid. After waking up, Jaden attempts to send Laila away, but she clings to him. Laila slips out into the storm at night. She returns by morning with a bottle of soda bought with recycling money. Moved by the gift, Jaden promises to live. Laila touches his knee with golden magic, restoring his ability to walk.
Carmela and Laila find Jaden unconscious inside a bathtub filled with blood. Alaric runs into the bathroom immediately. He pulls Jaden out of the water and calls for a doctor to save his brother.
Jaden wakes up in bed with bandages wrapped around his wrists. He speaks coldly and tries to push Laila out of the room. Laila wraps her arms around him and refuses to let him die.
Jaden stays awake during the middle of the night and watches the courtyard. He spots Laila sneaking outside into the heavy rain with a sack. Jaden assumes she took household items and ran away from the house.
Jaden finds Laila sleeping next to him with scraped hands and a glass soda bottle. He drinks the soda and vows to stay alive. Laila channels golden magic into his knee, and Jaden stands up as Carmela drops her tray.
“I'm not letting go. You're not dying!”
“Even if I never walk again, I'll never try to kill myself again.”
“My feet... I can feel them?”
Jaden rises from his bed and places his weight firmly on both feet. Carmela enters the bedroom with a breakfast tray and drops it onto the floor in complete disbelief. Will the rest of the Voss household discover how Jaden regained his strength, and can his recovered legs help protect the family from coming threats?
