Vera strolls arm-in-arm with Frank across the workplace while Betty stands by. Nearby colleagues whisper that Vera saved Frank in the past and holds his heart. At her desk, Betty answers a call regarding a medical session for her ailing mother. She approaches Frank to request leave. Inside his office, Betty finds Vera seated on his lap. Frank approves the time off, but Vera suddenly confronts Betty about being his secret wife.
Frank Lewis walks across the office floor arm-in-arm with Vera while Betty watches. Two female coworkers whisper near Betty. One mentions that Vera is Frank's first love who saved his life, calling her the woman he truly loves.
Betty sits at her desk and answers an incoming phone call. The caller tells her about a hospital lecture that could aid her mother's recovery. Betty decides she must ask Frank Lewis for permission to take time off from work.
Betty walks down the hallway toward Frank's private office. She pauses outside the entrance, hesitates, and clenches her fist to gather her courage. She then knocks on the door and waits until someone tells her to come inside.
Betty enters the room and sees Vera perched on Frank's lap on the couch. Betty asks Frank for the afternoon off, and he agrees. When Betty turns around to exit, Vera halts her by asking if she is Frank's secret wife.
“That's Frank's first love who saved his life, Vera!”
“Mr. Lewis I'd like to take the afternoon off.”
“Sure.”
“Wait. You're Betty? Frank's secret wife?”
Betty completes her errand and prepares to walk away, but Vera cuts her off at the door. Vera calls out Betty's name and directly asks if she is Frank's secret wife. How does Vera know about their hidden marriage, and how will Frank react now that his secret is spoken out loud in his office?
