Episode: 5
Iver wakes up from a nightmare and panics in his bedroom. He screams at the maid and yells at his father, forcing Dashiell Veyr to back out into the hall. Tamsin Reed comes into the room and takes the trembling boy into her arms. She tells him the kidnappers are gone and hums a lullaby until he sleeps. Tamsin tucks him under the blanket and steps outside, where Dashiell is waiting.
Iver cowers on his mattress, sobbing after waking from a nightmare. When the maid and Dashiell Veyr try to approach, the boy screams in terror at them. Dashiell has to reverse his wheelchair back out into the hallway.
Tamsin Reed enters the bedroom and pulls Iver into a hug. She softly reminds him that she already fought off his attackers. She hums a quiet lullaby in his ear until his panic fades and he falls asleep in her arms.
Tamsin Reed covers Iver with his blanket and creeps out of the bedroom so she will not wake him. As she closes the door, she turns around and finds Dashiell Veyr waiting in his wheelchair right in the hallway.
“Bad people! You're all bad people! Go away!”
“Iver, it's me.”
“The bad people are coming to get me again.”
“I will never let anyone hurt you.”
Tamsin finishes tucking Iver into bed and sneaks out into the corridor. She spots Dashiell Veyr parked in the hallway right outside the door, waiting for her to step out. Will Dashiell thank Tamsin for soothing his terrified son, or does he want to discuss new rules for her stay at the manor?
