Kane touches the testing crystal, but the screen marks him as unranked. Professor Gareth advises him to leave the academy. As Kane exits with Darren Lester, Derek Raymond and his gang mock him, but Kane defends the small dragon on his collar. Derek steps up to taunt Kane further, only for the crystal to rupture. A golden light shoots skyward, summoning a giant dragon that stuns Dean Eli and the watching instructors.
Kane rests his hand on the testing crystal. Golden lightning cracks the base, but the screen labels him unranked. Gareth marks a red cross on the roster, advises Kane to drop out, and announces a combat exam in three days.
Darren comforts Kane while peers mock him. Derek and his crew block their path. A red-haired student blames Darren for tattling and reaches for the small black dragon on Kane's collar. Kane smacks the boy's hand away with a warning.
Derek steps forward to ridicule Kane near the testing platform. Without warning, the magic orb unleashes wild golden lightning. Deep fractures tear through the stone base as a blinding golden pillar of light blasts straight up into the clouds.
The light pillar forms a massive ancient circle in the sky. Massive black claws rip through the clouds before a colossal dragon emerges to circle overhead. The crowd panics while Kane stares down at his own glowing hands.
High in the academy tower, the bearded teacher flings open a window and shouts for Dean Eli. Dean Eli identifies the dragon as ancient chaos magic. The instructor gasps at the unprecedented S-plus power surfacing during the examination.
“Don't touch my coal ball.”
“My god that's chaos magic, known only from ancient texts.”
“S-plus magic. That's never happened in Atlantis history.”
“A genius has emerged from this year's magic test!”
Dean Eli and his assistant stare from the tower window at the colossal dragon circling above the courtyard. They marvel that an S-plus genius with ancient chaos magic has emerged from the test. High above the terrified crowd, the dragon unleashes a massive roar. How will the academy respond to this impossible magical surge?
