Seth spots a fiery dragon crossing the sky and runs to inform Duke Victor about the new S-rank awakener. In the academy courtyard, Derek Raymond flashes lightning sparks. The students mistakenly credit Derek for the dragon miracle. Kane's coiled black snake protests quietly. Derek and his peers insult Roland Valerian, provoking Kane. Derek mocks Kane's lack of trial supplies, and the crowd demands Kane leave the academy.
Seth stands atop the high tower and watches a blazing dragon fly across the sky. He announces that an S-rank awakener has finally surfaced after eighteen years. He quickly vanishes from the ledge to alert Duke Victor about the event.
Derek releases lightning magic in the courtyard, and the gathered students assume he produced the dragon. The black snake on Kane's wrist objects to Derek taking the credit. Kane discovers that S-rank mages receive direct entry into the International Magic Tournament.
Classmates praise Derek as the newest imperial champion. A brunette student joins Derek in speaking ill of Lord Roland. Kane steps forward in anger and defends his father's honor. Derek steps right into Kane's face and repeats his cruel taunts.
Derek, a red-haired boy, and the brunette mock Kane for having no money for gear before the Magic Forest trial. The students chant for Kane to drop out. Derek walks away, promising to face him during the trial in three days.
“Eighteen years... and now someone besides Roland has awakened legendary S-rank power in Aetherlan!”
“No! That's Kane's power, not Derek's, you fools!”
“Shut up. I won't let you insult my father.”
“The Magic Forest trial in three days will be a lot harder than touching a crystal.”
Derek and his followers leave the courtyard after warning Kane that the Magic Forest trial will be fatal for him. Kane stays behind by the shattered orb, determined to reach the tournament. Can Kane gather the necessary supplies in three days and survive the deadly trial without exposing the dragon's power?
