Episode 1 recap: The Awakening of Ella

Kade Thorne scavenges through the North American Data Hub ruins and salvages a glowing metal box. He hauls the hardware back to Annel Town in his truck. While trying to read the data inside his home, Kade triggers a holographic projection. An artificial intelligence emerges and introduces herself as XM77, code name Ella. Ella explains her core directives to Kade. Far away in a dark sanctuary, an elderly cult leader senses her awakening. The cult leader orders his combat squad to march out and destroy Annel Town immediately.
