Cassia tries to kiss Dawson in bed, but he pushes her away. He tells her he never sleeps with women he feels nothing for. Cassia leaves for the study and writes him a farewell letter. She congratulates Dawson on regaining his vision and releases him to pursue Elsie. She puts the note over a photo of Elsie in a drawer. Cassia takes her divorce papers, steps into a taxi, and heads to Brownsville.
Cassia leans in to kiss Dawson while they are in bed. Dawson pushes her off immediately. He coldly states that he will not sleep with someone he has no feelings for and tells her to get some rest.
In the study, Cassia pens a goodbye letter to Dawson. She mentions her past feelings, congratulates him on recovering his vision, and frees him to chase Elsie. She places the note inside a desk drawer directly on top of Elsie's photograph.
Cassia carries her signed divorce papers out through the estate gates into the snowy night. She flags down a taxi cab and climbs inside. When the driver asks for her destination, Cassia tells him to drive her to Brownsville.
“Cassia, I don't sleep with women I feel nothing for. Get some rest.”
“Dawson, by the time you read this, I'll be gone.”
“I told you once that I'd be your eyes. So before I die, I'll leave you one last gift.”
“Brownsville.”
Cassia closes the taxi door and leaves the Morris estate behind in the falling snow. Holding her divorce papers, she instructs the driver to take her straight to Brownsville. As the cab disappears into the dark storm, what will Cassia do when she reaches Brownsville, and how will Dawson react once he discovers her letter?
