Emma presents her ring sketches to Ethan in his office. Ethan criticizes her work and brings up their past. He accuses her of selling their five-year relationship for two million dollars and asks about her husband. Emma resigns and walks out crying. At her desk, a colleague informs her that Ethan rejected her resignation and threatened an industry blacklist. Later, Ethan drinks alone at a bar, remembering their past together.
Emma presents her ring sketches to Ethan. Ethan criticizes the artwork before bringing up their history. He accuses her of abandoning five years together for two million dollars and asks about her husband's money. Emma offers her resignation and exits in tears.
In the open work area, Emma packs up her belongings. A male colleague in a suit approaches her desk. He announces that Ethan rejected her departure request and will blacklist her across the industry if she leaves. Emma sits back down defeated.
At night, Ethan sits by himself at a bar and drinks heavily. A memory surfaces of him and Emma riding an electric scooter and laughing together. He struggles with his anger toward her and his inability to let her go.
“You sold our five years for $2 million? Emma how much does your husband give you?”
“I didn't know this was your company. I'll resign.”
“Emma, your resignation was rejected... The CEO says if you quit he'll blacklist you.”
“Emma, but I hate myself more. I hate that I can't forget you... why can't I forget you.”
Ethan sits alone at the bar, nursing his drink while memories of riding an electric scooter with Emma consume his thoughts. Despite his deep resentment toward her, he cannot wipe her from his mind.
