Adrian swims into the academy hall with a slender body and a silver tail. The stunned students crowd around him as he announces his name. Behind a coral formation, Cyrus watches him and suspects foul play behind the sudden change. Adrian tells the cheering crowd to focus on today instead of yesterday. Cassian swims into the room with glowing eyes, and Adrian steps forward to greet the instructor with a smile.
Adrian glides directly into the academy hall. His body is now slim and handsome, and his silver tail shines through the water. He carries himself upright as he enters the room and looks across the space.
The students stop in their tracks and stare at him in complete shock. Adrian introduces himself by his full name. Surprised by his new appearance, the classmates quickly gather around him and speak to him with excitement.
Cyrus conceals his body behind a coral reef in the shadows of the hall. He observes Adrian surrounded by the other students. Cyrus mutters to himself that nobody can physically change that drastically in a single night.
Adrian talks directly to the classmates surrounding him. He tells them that yesterday is gone and that today is a brand new day. The group responds with loud, energetic cheers as they continue to circle him.
Instructor Cassian swims into the entrance with glowing eyes. The students quickly part down the middle to let him through. Adrian approaches the dark-haired instructor directly and offers him a bright, friendly smile.
“I'm Adrian Aster.”
“No way. Overnight? No one changes this much overnight.”
“All right. I'm Adrian. Yesterday was yesterday. Today is today.”
“Good morning, Instructor.”
Adrian and Cassian stop right in front of each other in the middle of the hall. They remain inches apart, locked in an intense gaze while the other students look on. Will Cassian recognize the merman who confessed to him, or will Cyrus step in to expose Adrian's sudden change?
