Margaret asks Edmund why he and Aveline arrived on a mule if he is truly wealthy. Edmund claims the animal is actually a battle-bred warhorse from the Royal Knights. He then mentions owning hundreds more in the royal stables. When a guest in a red cape mocks him, Edmund admits he is Captain Edmund Reed. The guests panic over treason, and Margaret angrily orders Aveline to tell the truth.
Margaret confronts Edmund about arriving on a mule instead of riding in luxury. Edmund stands his ground and informs her that his mount is actually a battle-bred warhorse from the Royal Knights, refusing to let the insult stand.
Edmund explains that he owns over two hundred royal warhorses. A young man wearing a red cape sarcastically asks if he is Captain Edmund Reed. Edmund looks at him directly and confirms that he is indeed the captain.
The banquet guests turn on Edmund in anger for claiming to be the famous Silver Lion Knight. They warn Margaret that harboring a fake royal knight is an act of treason that could get her entire family executed.
Fear and anger overwhelm Margaret as the guests shout warnings across the courtyard. She slams her hands down onto the banquet table in front of everyone and orders Aveline to tell her who this stranger really is.
“I have two hundred more like them in the Royal Knights' stables.”
“Why not just say you're Captain Edmund Reed?”
“Aveline! Enough! Tell me the truth. Who is he?”
Terrified by the threat of royal execution, Margaret slams the feast table and demands the honest truth from her daughter. Edmund stands calm, but the courtyard is in an uproar over his confession. Will Aveline admit that she hired a beggar, or will she try to maintain the lie in front of her furious mother?
