Sir Roland Boyd steps between them to mock the marriage. He reminds the crowd of Aveline's old vow to marry Sir Edmund. Roland points out that neither bride nor groom embraces. To silence the courtyard, Aveline grabs Edmund and kisses him squarely on the mouth.

    Margaret Carter pulls Aveline away from the guests in the courtyard. She demands to know whether Edmund truly possesses any fortune. Margaret warns her daughter that she will cast her onto the street if this marriage turns out to be a lie.

  2. 00:23: Roland Questions the Sudden Wedding

    Sir Roland Boyd cuts into the conversation and claims the whole wedding is fake. He loudly tells the gathering that Aveline previously swore to wed only Sir Edmund. Hearing this reminder, several banquet guests start voicing their own doubts.

  3. 00:58: Roland Demands Proof of Affection

    Roland turns back toward the couple and presses his attack. He notes that neither Aveline nor Edmund kisses or holds each other like genuine newlyweds. He directly implies to the crowd that the man standing there is an impostor.

    Refusing to let the suspicions spread further, Aveline strides up to Edmund. She grips him, pulls him near, and plants a kiss straight on his lips. Margaret and Roland watch the sudden embrace in total, speechless astonishment.
