Duchess Ethelyn leads Maria by the hand into the village. An aggressive boar-faced villager confronts them and throws a stone at the child. Ethelyn confronts the crowd, but the villagers shout that Maria caused the Jack family to die. They brandish pitchforks until the duchess's butler bares his fangs to push them back. After the hostile man hurls muck into Maria's face, Ethelyn comforts the crying girl and invites her to become her daughter.

00:00: Confrontation at the Village Entrance
Ethelyn holds Maria's hand as they approach the settlement together. A group of angry locals blocks their path on the road. An aggressive villager with boar features shouts curses at Maria and flings a stone straight at the young girl.
00:24: Villagers Demand Maria's Death
Ethelyn reprimands the crowd for attacking a helpless orphan. The mob yells back that Maria spreads misfortune everywhere. They state that the Jack family purchased her and soon died, and they demand that the girl be killed on the spot.
01:05: The Butler Defends the Duchess
The crowd moves forward aggressively while brandishing heavy sticks and sharp pitchforks. Ethelyn's butler steps in front of the group. He bares his sharp fangs and uses his own body to drive back the aggressive boar-faced villager.
01:41: An Offer of Adoption
The boar-faced man grabs muck off the dirt road and slaps it onto Maria's face. Maria weeps and denies being cursed. Ethelyn kneels down, offers gentle comfort to the crying child, and asks Maria to become her daughter.
