Duchess Ethelyn asks Maria to become her daughter and come live with her. Maria accepts with an embrace and addresses her as Mom. They journey to Avalon Castle with Bella and the donkey-eared butler. Inside, a lively puppy runs up to welcome Maria. After a bath, Maria studies a family portrait and decides to aid Cyrus. While two maids praise her, an unfriendly maid sneers.
Duchess Ethelyn promises to raise Maria as her own daughter and invites her home. Maria accepts the duchess's offer and calls her Mom. The two embrace on the road while the silent boar villagers stand and watch them.
Ethelyn, Maria, Bella, and the donkey-eared butler walk along the country road. Beside their path, a four-leaf clover glimmers. Maria smiles as she thinks about how she will never freeze in a cowshed or go hungry again.
The group steps into the grand hall of the castle. Bailey, a golden retriever puppy that was once sick, dashes over to Maria. Bella and the butler call Maria a lucky star. Ethelyn instructs Bella to prepare a bath.
Now wearing a clean cream dress, Maria enters the parlor. Duchess Ethelyn presents a portrait of Duke Regis, Hyon, Hiss, and Cyrus. Seeing Cyrus and learning about his physical disability, Maria makes a firm decision to help him.
Two cat-eared maids polish the railing and watch Maria play with Bailey in the yard. They mention that Maria restored joy after Miss Lily passed away. Nearby, another cat-eared maid mutters a harsh insult and walks off.
“I will raise you as if you were my own daughter. Would Maria be willing to come home with me?”
“Mom!”
“Yeah! How else can we say that Miss Maria is a lucky star!”
“Eh! Lowly rabbit, hum.”
Two friendly maids watch Maria play outside with Bailey and talk about the warmth she brought back to the castle. However, a third maid sneers at Maria and walks away in disgust. Will this hostile servant cause trouble for Maria inside her new home?
