    Richard stands behind Lucia under the pretense of evaluating her accent. He places a hand on her shoulder while leaning over her chair. Startled by his touch, Lucia gathers her study materials, claims exhaustion, and rushes out of the room.

    Lucia wakes up abruptly in the dark of night. She turns in bed and gasps when she discovers Richard sitting beside her. He wears a robe, stares quietly at her in the dim light, and refuses to leave her private space.

    Richard reaches out to stroke Lucia's cheek while warning her that he altered the bedroom latch. Standing in the hallway, Margaret Sterling views the confrontation through the open gap. Terrified, she clasps a hand over her mouth and darts away.

    After exiting the bedroom, Richard moves down the second-floor corridor with his mobile device in hand. He dials an associate and delivers an update in a flat tone, noting that their newcomer is both young and clean.
