Three-year-old Lily Harris climbs onto a stool to prepare carrot porridge for her sick mother, Mia Harris. After cleaning a spill, Lily carries the warm bowl to Mia's bedside. Mia eats and thanks her child. While Lily sleeps, Mia recalls learning she had terminal stomach cancer right when baby Lily needed heart surgery. Desperate for help, Mia dials Ethan Crane's number, but Vivian Blake answers and tells Mia never to call again.
Three-year-old Lily Harris steps onto a stool by the stove. She chops carrots and cooks porridge for her sick mother. She spills a bit on the floor, wipes it clean, and carries the warm bowl toward Mia's bed.
Lily brings the bowl into the bedroom and wakes Mia Harris. Mia looks gaunt and weak in bed. She takes a spoonful of the porridge, smiles at her daughter, and praises Lily for making such a good meal.
With Lily asleep, Mia remembers Ethan's wealthy father forcing them apart. She lied to break Ethan's heart. Later, a doctor diagnosed Mia with terminal stomach cancer while her newborn daughter required immediate surgery for a congenital heart defect.
Mia dials Ethan's number from her bed. Vivian Blake answers the phone instead of Ethan. She recognizes Mia's name immediately, announces that she and Ethan are marrying next month, and orders Mia never to call his phone again.

Mia lies alone in bed after Vivian abruptly hangs up the phone. Her terminal illness leaves her with very little time, and her desperate attempt to reach Ethan has failed completely. Will Mia find another way to reach Ethan Crane before she succumbs to her cancer, or will little Lily be left completely on her own?
