Episode: 3
Mia cries beside sleeping Lily. She takes an old photo of Ethan and herself from a drawer and hides it inside Lily's teddy bear. When Lily wakes, Mia tells her it is a secret. Across town, Ethan asks Vivian if his phone rang earlier. Vivian lies and says she erased a spam call. Ethan rejects Vivian's excuses about the heavy snow and sends her away. Meanwhile, snow drifts onto Mia's mug.
Mia sits weeping beside Lily while the child sleeps. She opens a drawer, pulls out an old photograph of herself with Ethan Shaw, and carefully slips it inside a hidden patch pocket in Lily's stuffed teddy bear.
Lily stirs awake and asks what is inside her stuffed bear. Mia gently soothes her, explaining that it holds a secret for when she grows older. She tucks Lily back in and comforts her until she falls asleep.
Ethan Shaw walks down the staircase inside his luxury home. He asks Vivian if his phone rang a short time ago. Vivian lies to his face, claiming it was nothing more than an unwanted spam call that she deleted.
Ethan tells Vivian that the night is late and she must head home. Vivian points out the snowy weather and hazardous roads to prolong her stay, but Ethan refuses her request and instructs her to call a driver.
Cold air and snowflakes blow through a broken pane of glass in the bedroom window. The falling snow lands on a Columbia University Architecture mug while Mia and Lily rest tightly curled together in their freezing bed.
“what's in bear”
“a secret for when you're bigger. Now sleep baby. Mommy is right here.”
“did my phone ring earlier I thought I heard something”
“no just a spam call I deleted it”
“call the driver”
Ethan stays alone in his warm house after dismissing Vivian, completely unaware of Lily's phone call. Across the city, winter snow blows through the shattered glass onto Mia and Lily as they shiver together. Will Ethan ever discover that his daughter tried reaching him, or will the freezing weather overcome Mia first?
