Episode: 4
Lily wakes up freezing next to Mia and tries to shake her awake. When Mia remains cold and motionless, Lily climbs under the blanket with her. The older woman brings over fresh muffins and checks Mia's chest. She discovers Mia is dead, weeps, and tells Lily that Mia is only sleeping. After she dials emergency services, two responders arrive, cover Mia with a sheet, and Lily picks up a phone.
Lily wakes up shivering in bed beside her mother. She shakes Mia's arm repeatedly, but Mia stays cold and silent. Not understanding the situation, Lily pulls the blanket over herself and snuggles close against Mia's body.
The older woman enters the bedroom carrying baked muffins. She touches Mia's chest, realizes Mia has died, and breaks down in tears. She hugs Lily, claims Mia is simply tired, and immediately calls for emergency help.
Two uniformed emergency responders enter the bedroom and pull a white sheet over Mia's body. Lily watches them in silence. She then walks over to the bedside cabinet, picks up a cell phone, and dials.
“mommy mommy wake up mummy please wake up”
“Mia I brought muffins fresh from the bakery”
“did I do something wrong”
“mom is too tired she's falling asleep”
The two responders place a white sheet over Mia's body, confirming she is gone. Lily watches silently from across the bedroom, walks to the cabinet, and picks up a cell phone to make a call. Will anyone pick up Lily's call, and what will she tell the person on the other end?
