Mia attempts to call Ethan, but a woman answers and rejects her. Mia then teaches Lily how to identify Ethan's name on her phone. She instructs her daughter to call him if Mia ever fails to wake up. Lily asks Mia if Ethan is her father. After confirming his identity, Mia cries and holds her daughter. She is preparing Lily for the possibility of being left alone in the future.

“He's in the shower. He doesn't want to talk to you. He never wants to talk to you. Do you understand English?”
“If one day you call Mommy and Mommy doesn't answer, if you shake me and I don' t wake up, you press that button, and when someone answers, you say 'Mommy can't wake up. Mommy said need to come get me.'”
“Is he my daddy?”
“Yes. He is.”
