Episode: 3
Klaus stands by his window under the full moon when he hears Mia shout. He turns into dark smoke and reappears in her bedroom. A rogue vampire pins Mia against the wall, but Klaus grabs him and hurls him into the fireplace. Using dark energy, Klaus makes the intruder choke until he runs away. Klaus lifts Mia and lays her on the bed, feeding her a dark medicine. Meanwhile, Vlad watches from the doorway.
Klaus stands quietly beside a tall study window under the bright full moon. Suddenly, Mia's scream echoes down the hallway. Klaus reacts immediately. He dissolves on the spot, shifting his entire body into thick black smoke to reach her.
Inside the bedroom, a rogue vampire corners Mia and holds her against the wall. Klaus appears out of nowhere behind the attacker. He grips the vampire by the shoulder with immense force and hurls him across the stone floor toward the fireplace.
Klaus raises his palm and calls forth dark energy. The rogue vampire drops to the floor, writhing and gasping for air as magic chokes him. Klaus coldly commands the intruder to leave. Wounded and terrified, the rogue scrambles out and flees.
Mia stands shaking from the sudden assault. Klaus walks directly over to her without a word. He gathers her up into his arms in a bridal carry, walks across the room, and gently lowers her onto the mattress of the bed.
Sitting beside the bed, Klaus brings out a small, dark bead. He offers the item to Mia and places it past her lips. As she swallows it, Klaus quietly reassures her that the dark pill will do her good.
Out in the hallway, a figure clad in black appears. Vlad, a high-ranking vampire, stands quietly in the open doorway. He fixes his gaze on Klaus and Mia inside the bedchamber, silently watching the entire exchange without stepping into the room.
“Get off me!”
“Get out.”
“It's good for you.”
The episode ends with Vlad standing in the bedroom doorway, quietly observing Klaus as he attends to Mia. Vlad keeps his presence hidden in the shadows and does not speak. What does Vlad plan to do with the knowledge that the Duke is personally protecting and nursing this human captive?
