Klaus interrogates a vampire who tried to harm Mia with a crystal ball. When the subordinate refuses to admit his motives, Klaus punishes him and throws him into the dungeons. Mia realizes that the other vampires in the castle are a constant threat to her life. She concludes that her only path to survival is to secure Klaus's favor. She changes into a black silk dress and initiates a romantic encounter with him upon his return.
Klaus confronts his subordinate for attacking Mia with a crystal ball. The vampire lies about acting alone for an experiment. Enraged, Klaus chokes the man, throws him across the hall, and orders him to be locked in the dark dungeons.
Sitting by candlelight, Mia reflects on her precarious situation. She understands that anyone in the castle could kill her at any time. Seeking safety, she changes out of her nightgown and puts on a revealing black silk slip dress.
Klaus returns to the bedroom. Mia approaches him immediately and begins kissing him. Klaus reciprocates the affection and pulls her body tightly against his own. They embrace passionately as the tension between the two of them finally breaks.
Klaus and Mia remain locked in a deep embrace. The two share an intense moment of intimacy, acknowledging the physical attraction between them. Mia rests her head against his chest, feeling momentarily secure from the dangers lurking outside her door.
“You know she's mine. How dare you lay a hand on her!”
